Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens across India to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and turn the national flag into a visible symbol of celebration in homes ahead of Independence Day. His appeal came on Tuesday as the country prepares to mark its 80th Independence Day on August 15.
Sharing a video related to the campaign on Instagram, Modi encouraged people to celebrate the occasion with pride and respect while remembering those who fought for India’s freedom. He also urged citizens to renew their commitment toward building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat.
The 2026 edition of Har Ghar Tiranga is being observed throughout August. The initiative encourages people to hoist the Tricolor at their residences and take part in activities celebrating India’s independence. The campaign aims to bring the national flag closer to everyday life while encouraging a shared sense of national pride.
The Prime Minister’s appeal comes as preparations for Independence Day gather pace across the country. Alongside the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, several states and cities are organizing events centered on patriotism, national unity and India’s freedom movement.
In New Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that Vande Mataram will be collectively sung from the Red Fort before the National Anthem on Independence Day. She described the planned rendition as a significant and historic occasion.
Gupta highlighted the role of Vande Mataram in India’s freedom struggle, describing the song as a powerful source of inspiration for those who fought against colonial rule. She linked the upcoming event to the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram and recent parliamentary developments surrounding the national song.
She said the occasion would highlight India’s cultural heritage, national memory and patriotic spirit, while also recognizing the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
Independence Day preparations have also extended beyond the national capital. In Goa, Panaji hosted a Tiranga Rally as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Participants marched from Miramar Circle toward Azad Maidan, passing through the Kala Academy area.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant addressed participants at Kala Academy during the rally. The event added to a growing series of public programs being held across India ahead of August 15.
Together, these initiatives are positioning the 2026 Independence Day celebrations around public participation, remembrance of the freedom struggle and a renewed emphasis on national pride and development.
