Michigan Technological University has appointed Manish Srivastava as associate dean of its College of Business, adding an experienced academic leader to the college’s senior administration. Srivastava assumed the position on July 1 and will work closely with Dean Sri Beldona on initiatives aimed at advancing the college’s academic programs and long-term development.
A professor of strategic management and innovation, Srivastava also holds the David and Marilyn Bernard Endowed Professorship in Business. His nearly two decades at Michigan Tech have included teaching, research and leadership responsibilities, giving him extensive familiarity with the university and its College of Business.
As associate dean, Srivastava will help shape strategic priorities while managing a broad portfolio of academic responsibilities. His work will include oversight of graduate programs, certificate offerings and non-credit educational initiatives. He will also be involved in academic policy, accreditation preparation and other administrative matters connected with the college.
Srivastava said he was thankful for the opportunity to take on a larger leadership role and expressed his intention to work closely with faculty, staff and students. He said he hopes to support the college’s continued progress alongside Dean Beldona.
His previous administrative experience includes serving on the leadership team for Michigan Tech’s Tech MBA and Master of Engineering Management programs since 2019. In that role, he contributed to the development of accelerated degree pathways and the expansion of online learning. He was also involved in student recruitment, academic success initiatives, curriculum planning, assessment and accreditation efforts.
Beyond administration, Srivastava has established a significant research profile in strategic management and technological innovation. His work has appeared in respected academic publications, including the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Organization and Journal of Management.
His academic career has also included editorial responsibilities and visiting appointments at universities and institutions in the United States, Sweden and India. These include Virginia Tech, Umeå University and the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow.
Srivastava earned his PhD in strategic management from Virginia Tech. He completed his MBA at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad and began his academic journey with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur.
His appointment adds another leadership milestone to the career of an academic whose education in India and professional experience in the United States have shaped his work in business education, innovation and strategic management.
