Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing for an extensive six-day diplomatic tour covering the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy beginning on May 15. The visit comes at a time of growing global geopolitical uncertainty and is expected to focus on strengthening India’s international partnerships, boosting trade relations, and enhancing strategic cooperation with key nations.
The first stop on the Prime Minister’s itinerary will be the United Arab Emirates, where he is scheduled to meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Discussions between the two leaders are expected to revolve around expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership shared by both countries, with special attention on energy cooperation and regional developments in West Asia.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit would provide an opportunity for both sides to review bilateral ties and exchange views on international matters of shared concern. Officials also emphasized the strong economic relationship between India and the UAE, noting that the Gulf nation remains one of India’s largest trading partners and a significant source of long-term investment.
Following the UAE visit, Modi will travel to the Netherlands for a two-day official engagement scheduled between May 15 and May 17. During his stay, he is expected to hold meetings with King Willem-Alexander and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten as part of efforts to elevate relations between the two countries through a new strategic partnership framework.
According to Dutch government officials, the visit will focus on expanding cooperation across several sectors, including trade, technology, culture, and innovation. The King and Queen Maxima are expected to host the Indian Prime Minister at Huis ten Bosch Palace, where a formal luncheon will also be organized in honor of the Indian delegation.
The event is expected to bring together government representatives, business leaders, and members of the cultural and academic communities from both countries. Later, Prime Minister Jetten will welcome Modi at the Catshuis, the Dutch Prime Minister’s official residence, where the two leaders will participate in a roundtable discussion with leading corporate executives.
The discussions are likely to include investment opportunities, economic collaboration, and future business partnerships. Officials have also indicated that a cooperation agreement between companies from the two nations could be finalized during the visit, further strengthening economic engagement between India and the Netherlands.
