Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted the importance of his discussions with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, describing the Slovak leader’s perspectives as insightful and thought-provoking. Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, Modi expressed appreciation for the opportunity to continue conversations initiated during their previous meeting earlier this year. He noted that President Pellegrini’s viewpoints consistently contribute meaningful value to bilateral exchanges.
President Pellegrini echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the positive relationship that has developed between the two leaders. Reflecting on their earlier interaction in New Delhi, he stated that the open and constructive dialogue established during that visit has laid the foundation for deeper engagement between India and Slovakia. According to the Slovak President, the two nations are now moving toward a more practical and result-oriented partnership.
During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bratislava, both leaders met at the Presidential Palace, where they held extensive discussions covering a broad range of subjects. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation in manufacturing, transportation, innovation, investment opportunities, and emerging technologies. The leaders also explored possibilities for collaboration in energy security, biofuel initiatives, and digital transformation, recognizing these sectors as key drivers of future growth.
A significant portion of the discussions centered on strengthening interpersonal connections between the citizens of both countries. The leaders agreed that expanding educational exchanges and cultural interactions would play an important role in reinforcing the broader diplomatic relationship.
Delegation-level meetings were also conducted, attended by senior Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the two sides welcomed the steady progress in bilateral relations and identified additional opportunities in areas such as defense cooperation, space exploration, nuclear energy, digitalization, innovation, and education.
Beyond formal discussions, Prime Minister Modi and President Pellegrini participated in cultural activities, including an exchange of gifts and a visit to a painting exhibition. Ahead of the International Day of Yoga on June 21, they also attended a yoga event organized at the Presidential Palace, where Slovak youth demonstrated their enthusiasm by participating in yoga sessions.
Describing the occasion as historic, President Pellegrini noted that Modi’s visit marked the first official trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia. He said the engagement symbolized a new chapter in over three decades of diplomatic relations, transforming long-standing goodwill into a dynamic partnership focused on delivering tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
