Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Evian, France, on Tuesday to participate in the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, where leaders from major economies and invited nations are expected to deliberate on some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Upon reaching the French city, the Prime Minister expressed optimism about the upcoming engagements and reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering international cooperation aimed at building a more sustainable and prosperous future.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Modi stated that he looked forward to interacting with global leaders and exchanging perspectives on critical international matters. He emphasized that India remains dedicated to supporting collective initiatives designed to address global concerns and promote long-term progress.
Before arriving in France, the Prime Minister made a stop in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was welcomed by Swiss President Guy Parmelin. The two leaders exchanged greetings and reiterated their shared commitment to enhancing the partnership between India and Switzerland. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the interaction underscored the importance both nations attach to expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
At the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to participate in multiple high-level discussions involving G7 member states, invited partner countries, and international organizations. The agenda includes conversations focused on strengthening international partnerships, rebuilding global solidarity, and encouraging balanced and inclusive economic growth. Leaders will also examine strategies to ensure the safe, efficient, and responsible deployment of artificial intelligence technologies as their influence continues to expand worldwide.
On the sidelines of the summit, Modi is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with fellow world leaders to explore opportunities for deeper diplomatic and economic collaboration. His presence at the gathering reflects India’s growing stature on the global stage and its increasing influence in shaping discussions surrounding major international issues.
Invited by French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi’s attendance at this year’s summit marks India’s 13th participation in the G7 process. It is also his seventh consecutive appearance at the forum as Prime Minister, highlighting the country’s consistent engagement with influential international platforms.
Indian officials have frequently emphasized that the nation’s participation in such forums provides an opportunity to advocate for the interests and developmental priorities of the Global South. Through platforms including the G20 and the Voice of Global South Summit, India has sought to amplify concerns related to peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability.
Following the conclusion of the G7 Summit in Evian, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Paris for bilateral engagements and participation in VivaTech, Europe’s leading technology and startup event. He is also expected to interact with members of the Indian diaspora during his visit to the French capital.
