India and Armenia have taken further steps to strengthen their defence partnership, with a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi focusing on enhancing military cooperation, particularly in the air domain. Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, met Lt General Edvard Asryan, Chief of the General Staff of Armenia’s Armed Forces, to discuss expanding operational collaboration and improving interoperability between the two air forces.
The discussions highlighted the importance of closer coordination in air power capabilities, with both sides aiming to build stronger strategic alignment through joint efforts. The engagement reflects growing defence ties between the two nations and a shared commitment to modernizing military cooperation in response to evolving global security challenges.
Earlier in the day, Lt General Asryan also held talks with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan. Their meeting focused on exploring opportunities for joint ventures in the development of military hardware, underlining a broader push toward defence industrial collaboration. The Armenian delegation was formally received with a Guard of Honour, signaling the significance of the visit and the strengthening relationship.
Officials noted that these interactions demonstrate steady progress in India-Armenia defence relations. Both sides reiterated their intention to build a forward-looking and mutually beneficial strategic partnership, with emphasis on technology-driven cooperation and long-term capability development.
These developments build on earlier engagements between the two countries. In February, an Indian defence delegation led by General Chauhan visited Armenia for multiple high-level meetings. During that visit, discussions with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan focused on the evolving geopolitical landscape and opportunities to deepen defence and strategic collaboration.
The Indian delegation also met Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan, exchanging views on regional security and bilateral issues. Additionally, talks with Defence Minister Suren Papikyan explored ways to expand cooperation across a wide range of defence and security areas.
As part of his visit, General Chauhan also engaged with academic and strategic communities at Armenia’s National Defence Research University. He addressed faculty and students on the changing nature of global security, emphasizing structural shifts and the growing influence of technology in modern warfare.
Overall, the ongoing engagements underscore a clear intent by both India and Armenia to elevate their defence partnership, focusing on operational coordination, technological advancement, and strategic collaboration across multiple military domains.
