Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said India is moving beyond adopting technologies developed overseas to creating innovations for domestic and global markets. Addressing the second edition of the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2026) in New Delhi, he urged scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and startup founders to innovate boldly and take a leading role in developing future technologies.

Inaugurating the three-day conclave at Bharat Mandapam, Modi said India’s approach to science and technology was changing, driven by growing confidence among researchers and young entrepreneurs. He noted that the decades following Independence were largely characterized by adopting technologies developed abroad and adapting them to local requirements.

According to the Prime Minister, India now aims to develop technologies that address domestic needs while offering solutions to challenges faced by countries worldwide. He also highlighted the ambition of young Indian entrepreneurs, saying their confidence and willingness to pursue innovation at scale were encouraging.

The conclave, themed “Creative Minds, Catalyzing Science, Empowering Technologies,” brings together stakeholders from the scientific, industrial and research communities to discuss technological advancement and innovation.

Highlighting government support for research and development, Modi referred to the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) fund announced at the previous edition of the conclave. He said approximately ₹12,000 crore had been committed to technology initiatives, with the private sector contributing a matching amount, taking the combined investment to around ₹24,000 crore.

The funding initiative is intended to strengthen India’s research ecosystem, encourage private investment and support the development and commercialization of advanced technologies. Greater collaboration between government institutions, universities, startups and industry is expected to play an important role in translating scientific research into practical applications.

Modi also emphasized the importance of nuclear energy in meeting India’s future power requirements. Referring to the birth anniversary of physicist Homi J. Bhabha, observed on October 30, he said substantial nuclear energy capacity would be necessary as the country pursues its development ambitions.

He identified dependence on imported nuclear fuel as a challenge for energy security, underlining the importance of strengthening domestic capabilities and developing reliable energy sources to support long-term economic growth.

The Prime Minister identified semiconductors, quantum technologies, biotechnology, advanced materials, robotics, space technology, clean energy and next-generation communications as key areas likely to influence the global technological landscape.

He said India was building its scientific and technological foundations through national missions aimed at advancing capabilities in these sectors. These areas are increasingly important for industrial development, digital infrastructure, strategic autonomy and the creation of new products and services.

Modi also highlighted India’s experience in deploying digital public infrastructure and expanding 5G connectivity as examples of its capacity to deliver technology-driven solutions at scale.

He emphasized that the value of technological progress should be measured by its ability to solve significant problems and improve people’s lives. He described science and technology as instruments for serving humanity, rather than merely tools of strategic or military power.

Alongside the push for technological advancement, Modi stressed the need to prioritize safety and security in artificial intelligence, synthetic biology and autonomous systems.

As these technologies become more sophisticated and widely deployed, safeguards and responsible development practices will be important to managing potential risks. The emphasis on safety reflects the need to balance innovation with accountability and public welfare.

The Prime Minister said the requirements of individual sectors, from nuclear energy and space exploration to artificial intelligence and semiconductors, may differ, but all reflect India’s expanding technological ambitions.

His remarks at ESTIC 2026 placed scientific research, innovation financing, emerging technology missions and private sector participation at the center of India’s development agenda. The broader objective, as outlined by the Prime Minister, is to strengthen the country’s ability to develop homegrown technologies, compete internationally and contribute solutions to global challenges.

The post PM Modi Says India Now Creating Technologies for the World first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s newly established Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, highlighting the importance of digital infrastructure, financial inclusion and cybersecurity in India’s economic development.

Invoking the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, the Prime Minister congratulated the RBI and all those involved in establishing the two facilities, describing them as significant additions to the state’s development and the country’s financial infrastructure.

Modi said the inauguration reflected India’s changing governance priorities, with greater emphasis on accelerating development, expanding access to public services and ensuring that benefits reach citizens across regions.

He highlighted the government’s approach to people-centric governance, citing the expansion of expressways, medical institutions, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and digital connectivity in smaller towns and remote areas. According to the Prime Minister, improving citizens’ quality of life and creating opportunities for their aspirations have become central objectives of governance.

The Prime Minister underscored the transformation of India’s banking sector, noting that a significant section of the population remained outside the formal banking system for decades despite earlier efforts to expand access. He credited initiatives introduced over the past decade with bringing millions of households into the financial ecosystem through bank accounts, digital payments and formal credit facilities.

Modi highlighted the role of nearly 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts in strengthening financial inclusion and enabling government benefits to reach recipients directly. He said digital banking had expanded access to banking services and improved the delivery of welfare payments.

The Prime Minister also emphasised the contribution of schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, PM SVANidhi and PM Vishwakarma in supporting small entrepreneurs, street vendors, traditional artisans and other workers who have historically faced difficulties accessing formal credit.

According to Modi, around 13 crore people had become first-time entrepreneurs through the Mudra scheme. He also highlighted financial assistance extended to self-help groups representing rural women, describing their growing access to institutional finance as an important step towards economic empowerment. The expansion of RuPay debit and credit cards was another example cited by the Prime Minister as evidence of broader access to financial services.

Modi also highlighted the expansion of social security programmes aimed at protecting economically vulnerable households against financial uncertainty. He noted that the Atal Pension Yojana covered approximately nine crore subscribers, including 38 lakh people in Odisha. He also referred to the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, which provide affordable accident and life insurance coverage.

The Prime Minister said these schemes had helped make insurance accessible to lower-income families and the middle class. He highlighted the disbursement of more than ₹25,000 crore in insurance claims, describing the support as an important component of citizen-focused governance. He credited the banking sector, including the central bank, commercial banks and their employees, for helping expand financial access and implement these initiatives across the country.

The new RBI facilities assume particular importance as India’s financial system becomes increasingly dependent on digital infrastructure. Modi said that while the previous decade had focused on bringing previously unbanked citizens into the financial system, the coming decade would require greater attention to making banking more efficient, reliable and secure.

He warned that cyber threats were emerging as a serious challenge to national economic security, with financial institutions and digital infrastructure increasingly exposed to sophisticated attacks. The Data Centre is expected to strengthen the RBI’s technological infrastructure, while the Cybersecurity Training Institute will support the development of expertise needed to address evolving digital threats.

The Prime Minister stressed that India’s expanding economic influence must be accompanied by stronger safeguards for its financial system. He called for modern infrastructure, updated training capabilities and skilled personnel to protect institutions against cybercrime and other digital risks. The inauguration comes amid the growing importance of secure digital transactions, resilient banking systems and advanced computing capabilities to India’s economic and technological ambitions.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Odisha’s potential to become a major contributor to India’s development, particularly through the expansion of technology-driven industries in eastern India. He said the state was building on its established mineral and industrial base while exploring new opportunities in semiconductors, electronics, data centres and advanced computing.

Describing this transition as a shift from “mines to microchips,” Modi expressed confidence that emerging industries would create new employment opportunities and support the aspirations of Odisha’s youth. The establishment of the RBI’s Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute adds to the state’s institutional infrastructure as India seeks to strengthen its digital economy and technological capabilities.

Modi concluded by extending festive greetings and invoking the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, reiterating his confidence in Odisha’s role in building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat.

The post Modi Inaugurates RBI Data Centre in Odisha first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Narayanan. Speaking at a university convocation in Porur near Chennai, he outlined plans to accommodate growing demand for satellite launches from domestic and international customers.

The proposed expansion includes a dedicated 2,000-acre Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) complex at Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin district, along with a third launch pad at Sriharikota. The new spaceport is expected to include satellite integration facilities, launch infrastructure, rail-track systems, and telemetry, tracking, and command capabilities.

Narayanan also provided an update on India’s Gaganyaan human spaceflight program. ISRO plans to conduct its first uncrewed test within the next two months, followed by two additional uncrewed missions before attempting a crewed flight. These tests will assess environmental control systems, safety mechanisms, crew escape arrangements, and spacecraft interiors under different pressure, temperature, and humidity conditions. The agency has completed approximately 8,000 ground-based experiments for the program, while four astronaut-designates continue specialized training.

Another major initiative is Chandrayaan-5, a proposed lunar exploration mission being developed in collaboration with Japan’s space agency. The mission is expected to carry a 350-kilogram rover designed to conduct scientific experiments on the Moon’s surface over 100 days.

Narayanan also clarified that ISRO would not be privatized. Instead, he emphasized the importance of working with private-sector companies to meet increasing demand for thousands of satellites. The strategy combines expanded launch infrastructure, human spaceflight preparations, international cooperation, and industry partnerships to support India’s growing space ambitions.

The post ISRO Plans Four Operational Launch Pads by 2029 first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has recovered more than 650 stolen ancient statues over the past 12 years, highlighting efforts to protect the country’s cultural heritage and bring historically significant artefacts back to their homeland. He also emphasised the revival of India’s cultural and spiritual centres across different regions.

Addressing the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan in New Delhi, Modi spoke about the importance of preserving India’s heritage, a mission closely associated with Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of the Chinmaya Mission. He cited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial as an example of a landmark that continues to inspire millions of visitors from India and abroad.

The Prime Minister highlighted several religious and cultural sites that have regained prominence, including Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and the sacred pilgrimage centres of Kedarnath and Badrinath. According to him, the revival of these destinations reflects a broader effort to strengthen public engagement with India’s cultural and spiritual traditions.

Referring to the recovery of stolen artefacts, Modi said numerous ancient statues had previously been taken out of India and sold overseas. He noted that the recovery of more than 650 statues over the past 12 years represented an important step in restoring the country’s cultural inheritance.

Modi also highlighted developments at Kedarnath, where a statue of Adi Shankaracharya has been installed at the site traditionally associated with the philosopher’s final days. He said such initiatives were helping restore the prominence and significance of India’s historic spiritual destinations.

The Prime Minister further pointed to the growing international reach of Indian traditions, citing International Yoga Day as an initiative that has connected people worldwide with the country’s ancient knowledge and practices. He drew parallels between these efforts and Swami Chinmayananda’s work in taking Indian philosophy and spiritual teachings to global audiences.

Emphasising the importance of cultural confidence, Modi said greater pride in India’s heritage and efforts to overcome a colonial mindset were integral to the country’s broader development aspirations. He also called for collective action to address emerging social challenges, strengthen self-reliance and unite society against divisive forces.

Looking ahead to 2047, which will mark 100 years of India’s Independence, the Prime Minister urged citizens to contribute to the vision of a developed India. He also noted that the year would mark the centenary of the Chinmaya Mission, presenting an opportunity to work towards shared national and cultural objectives.

The recovery of stolen statues, restoration of heritage sites and international promotion of Indian traditions featured prominently in the Prime Minister’s address, underscoring the role of cultural preservation in India’s national development goals.

The post India Recovers Over 650 Stolen Ancient Statues: PM Modi first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to launch its indigenous navigation satellite NVS-03 on October 30 aboard the GSLV Mk II launch vehicle, marking an important step towards strengthening India’s satellite navigation capabilities.

ISRO Chairman V Narayanan indicated that the mission had been cleared for a launch attempt from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The launch had previously been tentatively scheduled for the October 15–20 period.

The upcoming mission comes as India’s national space agency adopts a cautious approach following consecutive failures of its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). The agency has been examining the anomalies associated with the unsuccessful missions to improve launch reliability and ensure the readiness of subsequent operations.

ISRO’s launch activity has faced challenges in 2026. Following the PSLV failure in January, the agency focused on understanding the technical issues affecting the launch vehicle. The GSLV Mk II, meanwhile, completed a successful mission in September, providing an important boost to the agency’s launch programme.

NVS-03 is part of India’s efforts to strengthen its indigenous satellite navigation infrastructure. A reliable navigation satellite constellation is important for applications such as transport management, navigation, location-based services and strategic operations.

One significant application is the real-time tracking of trains across the Indian railway network. A fully operational navigation satellite constellation can support the government’s objective of tracking approximately 12,000 trains in real time. Around 8,700 trains have already been equipped with the relevant tracking system, according to the report.

The expansion of satellite-based navigation capabilities is expected to support improved monitoring, operational efficiency and the delivery of location-based services across sectors. Indigenous infrastructure also helps India strengthen its technological independence in critical navigation services.

The NVS-03 mission assumes additional importance as ISRO works to restore momentum to its launch schedule following the setbacks involving the PSLV. The agency’s cautious approach reflects the need to identify and address technical concerns before proceeding with further missions.

The delays have also affected timelines for other major programmes, including Gaganyaan, India’s ambitious human spaceflight initiative. The first uncrewed test flight, previously targeted for mid-2026, could move to late 2026 or early 2027, depending on mission readiness and the progress of ongoing preparations.

The Gaganyaan programme is intended to demonstrate India’s ability to undertake human spaceflight missions using indigenous technology. Ensuring the reliability of launch vehicles and associated systems remains essential to the programme’s progress.

With the NVS-03 launch scheduled for October 30, ISRO will seek to strengthen India’s navigation infrastructure while continuing efforts to improve launch reliability. The mission’s outcome will be closely watched as the agency works towards its broader objectives in satellite navigation, space exploration and human spaceflight.

The post ISRO to Launch Navigation Satellite NVS03 on October 30 first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend Dussehra celebrations at IP Extension in New Delhi, bringing national attention to one of India’s most significant cultural and religious festivals.

The event is expected to highlight the traditional significance of Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, which symbolises the triumph of good over evil. Celebrated across the country, the festival marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana in the Hindu epic Ramayana and represents the broader triumph of righteousness over wrongdoing.

Modi’s participation is expected to draw considerable public and political attention, given the festival’s cultural importance and its place in India’s public celebrations. Dussehra gatherings across the country traditionally feature Ravan effigy burnings, religious programmes, cultural performances and community events.

The celebrations at IP Extension are expected to bring together residents, devotees and visitors to mark the occasion. The Prime Minister’s presence would add prominence to the festivities in the national capital.

Dussehra holds a special place in India’s cultural calendar, with celebrations varying across regions while retaining a common message of justice, courage and the victory of righteousness. In Delhi, large public gatherings and traditional Ravan Dahan ceremonies are an important part of the annual festivities.

Modi’s scheduled appearance also comes amid heightened political attention in the capital, placing the event in the wider context of the country’s public and political landscape.

The celebrations are expected to reinforce the festival’s enduring cultural significance and its message of hope, renewal and the triumph of good over evil.

The post PM Modi to Attend Dussehra Celebrations in Delhi first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated five major development projects worth approximately ₹3,350 crore in Ladakh, describing the occasion as a historic milestone in the region’s development. The projects focus on improving connectivity, electricity supply, water availability and tourism infrastructure.

Addressing people through video conferencing, Modi congratulated the residents of Ladakh, engineers and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for their contributions to the region’s progress.

A key highlight was the inauguration of the new terminal at Leh airport, constructed at a cost of ₹650 crore. According to the Prime Minister, the terminal will increase annual passenger handling capacity from around 10 lakh to 35 lakh and significantly expand flight operations. Equipped with geothermal technology, the facility is expected to strengthen tourism and improve air connectivity.

Modi also dedicated the Nimmu-Padum-Darcha Road to the people of Ladakh. Built at a cost of ₹2,500 crore, the strategic road has reduced travel time between key locations from approximately 12 hours to three hours, improving prospects for transportation, trade and regional connectivity.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the 9 MW Hanu Hydroelectric Project along with transmission infrastructure designed to improve local power supply. He said reliable electricity would support education, healthcare, village businesses and other essential services.

Under Project Amrit Him Sarovar, 40 water bodies across 40 villages were also dedicated to the public to help address seasonal water shortages and provide irrigation facilities for farmers.

Highlighting broader infrastructure development, Modi said Ladakh’s road network had expanded from 1,800 kilometres in 2019 to 4,000 kilometres, while the number of major bridges had increased from 19 to 75. He also pointed to improvements in access to safe drinking water and the growth of tourism-related facilities, including homestays and greenhouses.

The Prime Minister highlighted progress on the Zojila Tunnel, which is expected to improve all-weather connectivity to the region. He also emphasized the importance of expanding technological education, promoting traditional products such as Pashmina and apricots, and preserving Ladakh’s cultural heritage.

Modi noted that Ladakh’s first petroglyph conservation park had been inaugurated in Leh, highlighting efforts to protect the region’s historical legacy.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said the Centre remained committed to Ladakh’s prosperity and development, expressing confidence that continued cooperation would help the region achieve further progress.

The post PM Modi Inaugurates Ladakh Projects Worth ₹3,350 Crore first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted India’s expanding contribution to global innovation, emphasizing that the country’s progress should create opportunities for people worldwide. Speaking Tuesday at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, he called for technology, knowledge, and innovation to serve the broader public rather than concentrate influence and benefits among a small group. His message centered on the principle of using power to empower others and encourage inclusive development.

Modi explained that the value of wealth, knowledge, and influence depends on how these resources are used. Drawing on India’s longstanding traditions, he argued that meaningful progress comes from applying these strengths to improve lives and expand opportunities. He also pointed to India’s democratic and cultural diversity, noting its extensive media landscape and widespread participation in digital platforms. According to the prime minister, the country has more than 100 languages, approximately 80,000 registered newspapers and publications, and over 1,000 satellite television channels. He added that both YouTube and Instagram have more than 500 million users in India.

Digital accessibility was another major theme of his address. Modi said his government had prioritized making mobile internet data affordable, helping students and other residents of smaller towns access educational resources and information online. He also highlighted India’s willingness to share its experience in digital public infrastructure with other nations, enabling them to develop systems suited to their individual requirements.

The prime minister cited the CoWIN platform, developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and made available as open-source technology, as an example of India’s efforts to support wider adoption of digital solutions. He also emphasized the country’s commitment to addressing climate change through initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance and continued expansion of renewable energy capacity.

On economic policy, Modi described reforms as a matter of conviction rather than necessity. He maintained that India’s development was intended to complement global progress, not come at the expense of other countries. He pointed to economic indicators as evidence of resilience, citing 7.8% growth in the April-June quarter and foreign exchange reserves exceeding $700 billion. He also described India’s banking system as a source of strength.

His remarks followed the International Monetary Fund’s decision to raise its growth forecast for India to 7%, reflecting stronger domestic demand and services activity despite elevated oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty.

Modi concluded by highlighting the growing challenges facing the international economy. He warned that supply chains, energy resources, minerals, payment systems, and technology were increasingly being used as instruments of geopolitical pressure. In this environment, he argued, reliable access to essential supplies and international trust have become critical priorities. India’s approach, he suggested, is to promote cooperation, share expertise, and use innovation to create opportunities beyond its borders.
