Bihar officials presented an ambitious vision for the state’s growth and technological transformation during the Bihar Diwas 2026 celebrations held in New York. The event took place at the Consulate General of India and brought together diplomats, policymakers, and members of the global Indian diaspora to discuss Bihar’s development roadmap.
The programme began with a welcome address by emcee Komal Sharan, setting the tone for discussions focused on Bihar’s evolving economic and technological landscape.
Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit emphasized that the state is prepared for a major transformation phase. He called upon people of Bihari origin across the world to actively contribute to the state’s progress at what he described as a crucial moment. He also assured that government departments remain committed to transparency and accountability in addressing development challenges.
Industry Secretary Kundan Kumar, who also leads the Bihar Foundation as CEO, echoed this sentiment by stating that Bihar is ready to take a significant leap forward. He highlighted the state’s growing industrial base, new policies supporting Global Capability Centres, and ongoing efforts to position Bihar as an attractive investment destination.
Alok Kumar, Chairman of Bihar Foundation USA – ETZ, spoke about Bihar’s increasing focus on artificial intelligence and digital innovation. He mentioned the establishment of a Centre of Excellence and collaborations with industry experts, including professionals such as Mahesh Kumar of Tiger Analytics and Badrish Prakash, aimed at strengthening the state’s tech ecosystem.
India’s Consul General in New York, Binaya S. Pradhan, highlighted Bihar’s global relevance by referencing its historical importance and future potential. He underlined how the state’s legacy continues to influence its evolving identity on the world stage.
Community representatives also shared their perspectives. Avinash Gupta encouraged attendees to move beyond outdated perceptions of Bihar and recognize visible improvements in infrastructure and development. Priti Kashyap, President of BJANA, stressed the importance of unity within the diaspora and greater involvement of younger generations in Bihar’s growth journey.
The event also featured the launch of the book “Gaon Ki Mitti Mitne Nahi Deti” by Santa Mishra, alongside cultural performances showcasing Bihar’s rich traditions through folk music and dance inspired by regional heritage.
The Bihar Vishwa Gaurav Samman 2026 was awarded to Saroj Kumar Jha, Hasmukh Ranjan, Rajesh Sinha, and Sanjay Choubey in recognition of their contributions across different fields, marking a celebration of global achievement rooted in Bihar’s identity.
