The 13th edition of the joint military exercise Maitree 2024 between the Indian Army and the Royal Thailand Army concluded with a grand closing ceremony in Tak Province, Thailand. Major General Narongrit Panikabutr, who leads the 4th Infantry Division of the Royal Thailand Army, participated as the Chief Guest, celebrating the successful conclusion of two weeks of intensive training and cooperation. Representing India, Group Captain Brijesh Paul, Defence Attache to Thailand, was the guest of honor.
Major General Narongrit Panikabutr praised the dedication and proficiency exhibited by both armies during the exercise. He underscored the importance of Exercise Maitree in enhancing defense cooperation between India and Thailand, highlighting their commitment to addressing regional security challenges and promoting peace under the United Nations charter.
Lieutenant Colonel Mandan Ojha, Contingent Commander of the Indian Army contingent, conveyed appreciation to the Royal Thailand Army for their hospitality during the exercise. He emphasized the mutual benefits derived from sharing best practices and expertise, which strengthened the operational capabilities of both armies. The exercise also aimed to enhance interoperability between the armed forces of India and Thailand.
The joint training activities during Maitree 2024 included a wide array of tactical exercises such as weapon training, day and night firing, rappelling, jungle survival techniques, navigation training, communication exercises, combat first aid, and casualty evacuation drills. These activities not only honed the tactical skills of the participants but also deepened the enduring friendship between the armed forces of India and Thailand.
