Indian film producer and director Ektaa R Kapoor is set to receive the prestigious 2023 International Emmy Directorate award from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. This recognition celebrates her remarkable career and profound impact on the Indian television landscape.
The award ceremony will take place at the 51st International Emmy® Awards Gala in New York City on November 20, as confirmed by Bruce L Paisner, president & chief executive officer of IATAS.
Conveying her appreciation for this recognition, the television producer, aged 48, expressed, “This accolade carries deep significance for me. It represents a journey that transcends mere professional endeavors; it holds a pivotal role in both my personal and career life. I am deeply humbled and thrilled by this honor.”
She went on to emphasize the significance of this award in representing her country on the global stage, highlighting the role of television in shaping her identity, especially as a storyteller for women. Kapoor sees this award as an opportunity to represent not only herself but also the collective achievements of women in the industry on an international scale.
Ektaa R. Kapoor, who co-founded the television production powerhouse Balaji Telefilms in 1994 alongside her parents, Indian movie star and producer Jeetendra Kapoor and media executive Shobha Kapoor, has been a prominent figure in Indian television. Under the Balaji banner, Kapoor has been instrumental in creating and producing over 17,000 hours of television content, along with 45 films. She also spearheaded the launch of one of India’s pioneering Indian OTT platforms, Alt Balaji.
