India and Seychelles have significantly strengthened their bilateral partnership with the signing of multiple agreements spanning development cooperation, maritime security, renewable energy, health, infrastructure and people-to-people engagement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Seychelles President Patrick Herminie held wide-ranging discussions, reviewing the full spectrum of relations and identifying new growth opportunities across strategic and economic sectors. The talks underscored the shared vision of both nations as maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean region.
A major outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Vision for Sustainability, Economic Growth and Security through Enhanced Linkages (SESEL), which sets a long-term roadmap for cooperation focused on sustainable development, security and regional stability.
India also announced a Special Economic Package to support Seychelles’ developmental priorities, particularly in public housing, mobility, infrastructure, capacity building and maritime security. Several Memorandums of Understanding were exchanged in areas including health, digital cooperation, meteorology, culture, ocean science, food systems and governance.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the blue economy, renewable energy, maritime safety and disaster resilience, while deepening cultural and people-to-people ties.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted Seychelles’ importance in advancing Vision MAHASAGAR, India’s strategic framework for maritime security and economic prosperity in the Indian Ocean. Both sides expressed confidence that the enhanced partnership would contribute to regional stability and the broader interests of the Global South.
Seychelles remains a key maritime partner for India, with the expanded cooperation opening new avenues for long-term strategic, economic and cultural engagement between the two nations.
