
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has emphasized the growing economic relationship between the United States and India, highlighting new opportunities for American companies and deeper cooperation across technology, trade and investment.
Following discussions with executives from Amazon, Gor said American innovation continues to play an important role worldwide. The meeting focused on the company’s operations and presence in India, as well as the potential for expanding opportunities for US businesses in the country’s rapidly developing market. Gor also underlined the importance of strengthening economic connections between Washington and New Delhi.
During his visit to Bengaluru, the ambassador drew attention to the wider role that South India is playing in the expanding partnership between the two countries. He said collaboration across the region is encouraging innovation, attracting investment and helping strengthen important supply chains.
Gor also highlighted Karnataka’s growing importance to the US-India relationship. After meeting Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, he said cooperation between the two nations was advancing in areas including space technology, artificial intelligence and trade. He pointed to initiatives such as Pax Silica and TRUST as efforts designed to create new opportunities for industries in both the United States and India.
The US envoy also met Bengaluru South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya. Their discussions focused on the future of the bilateral partnership and how continued cooperation could support economic growth, technological development and new opportunities for businesses and communities.
Earlier, Gor indicated that Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is expected to visit the United States later this month. The visit is expected to coincide with the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting, where discussions surrounding the ongoing bilateral trade agreement are also likely to continue.
Speaking at the 66th Annual Session of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India, Gor said India and the United States have been working closely to strengthen their commercial relationship. He noted that the two sides have made considerable progress during trade negotiations.
According to Gor, both governments are continuing efforts to build a trade relationship based on fairness, reciprocity and mutual benefits. With greater cooperation across business, technology and strategic industries, the India-US partnership appears to be gaining further momentum.
