The United States commemorated the 250th anniversary of its independence with a special celebration in Hyderabad, where US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor highlighted the strength of the growing partnership between India and the United States. The event brought together business leaders, innovators, diplomats, and artists from both countries to mark a milestone in American history while reinforcing bilateral ties.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Gor described the gathering as a memorable occasion that showcased the spirit of innovation, achievement, and collaboration that has defined the United States over the past two and a half centuries. He emphasized that the celebration also reflected the enduring friendship between the two nations and the expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Speaking at the gala reception, the ambassador underscored the importance of the relationship between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Gor, the trust and understanding shared by the two leaders have created significant opportunities for deeper collaboration and have strengthened the foundation of the broader India-US partnership.
He expressed confidence that the progress being made today could influence global developments for decades to come. Gor noted that both countries are increasingly aligned on major strategic priorities and are working together to address opportunities and challenges across a wide range of industries.
The ambassador pointed to growing cooperation in areas such as defense, trade, pharmaceuticals, space exploration, and emerging technologies. He remarked that the two nations are either already collaborating or are likely to work together on many of the critical sectors shaping the future global economy.
Highlighting defense relations, Gor said India participates in more military exercises with the United States than with any other country, demonstrating the depth of security cooperation between the two partners. He also emphasized the strong economic relationship, noting that the United States remains a key destination for Indian exports.
Trust, he said, continues to play a central role in strengthening bilateral engagement. As an example, Gor referenced India’s inclusion among the first countries invited to participate in the US-led Pax Silica initiative. He also highlighted India’s importance in supplying generic medicines to the American market, describing this as a reflection of the confidence the United States places in India as a reliable partner.
The Hyderabad event combined cultural and diplomatic elements to celebrate 250 years since the United States declared independence in 1776. Beyond commemorating a historic milestone, the gathering served as a platform to reaffirm the growing strategic, economic, and people-to-people connections that continue to shape the India-US relationship.
