India is set to host the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, bringing together major players from the global semiconductor industry. The three-day event will connect technology companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups and industry executives as India seeks to strengthen its position in the global chip ecosystem.
Organized by the India Semiconductor Mission in partnership with SEMI, the event will follow the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” Discussions will cover a broad range of topics, including chip manufacturing, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, supply-chain resilience, chemicals and materials, sustainability, semiconductor design, startups, workforce development and market expansion.
The exhibition is expected to feature more than 500 companies, including over 240 international exhibitors. Participants from more than 40 countries will attend, alongside more than 150 international speakers. The event will also feature six country pavilions and 10 state government pavilions spread across more than 15,000 square meters of exhibition space.
India’s domestic semiconductor industry has gained momentum through government-backed initiatives under the Semicon India Programme. Twelve projects have received approval under Semicon 1.0, with three already entering commercial production. The Union Cabinet has also cleared Semicon 2.0, aimed at further developing a stronger and more resilient semiconductor ecosystem in the country.
The government is simultaneously expanding support for semiconductor research, product design and innovation. Advanced design tools are being made available to more than 332 academic institutions and 105 startups. In addition, 24 startups have received approval under the Design Linked Incentive scheme, providing further support for domestic chip design capabilities.
India’s semiconductor requirements are projected to double from approximately $100 billion to $200 billion, while worldwide demand is expected to grow from about $1 trillion to $2 trillion. Against this backdrop, SEMICON India 2026 is expected to provide a platform for new partnerships, investment opportunities and technology collaborations.
The event will also support India’s broader effort to become a more significant participant in global semiconductor supply chains. By connecting domestic capabilities with international companies and investors, the government aims to encourage manufacturing, innovation and skill development while building a more competitive and self-reliant chip ecosystem.
