Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak enjoyed a casual game of cricket in Mumbai on Sunday, engaging in a lively tennis ball match as spectators cheered him on. Sharing the moment on X (formerly Twitter), he remarked, “No trip to Mumbai would be complete without a game of tennis ball cricket.”
Prior to his visit to Mumbai, Sunak attended the Jaipur Literature Festival alongside his wife, Akshata Murthy, and her parents, Narayan and Sudha Murthy. The festival’s official X account highlighted a discussion featuring Sudha Murthy and Akshata Murthy, where the duo shared personal insights, life choices, and experiences in a conversation showcasing their intelligence and determination.
Sunak served as the UK’s Prime Minister from October 25, 2022, to July 5, 2024. Before his tenure as the country’s leader, he held key roles, including Chancellor of the Exchequer (2020-2022) and Chief Secretary to the Treasury (2019-2020). He entered politics in 2015 as the Conservative MP for Richmond (Yorks) and held several ministerial positions, focusing on economic and business policies.
Before transitioning to politics, Sunak built a successful career in finance, co-founding an investment firm that supported businesses across multiple countries. His academic journey includes studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Oxford University, followed by an MBA from Stanford University as a Fulbright Scholar.
His visit to India, blending cultural engagements and casual sporting moments, reflects his deep personal and familial ties with the country, alongside his continued public presence beyond politics.
