During his recent State visit to India, French President Emmanuel Macron introduced “Classes Internationales,” an exclusive program tailored for Indian students. This initiative allows students to spend a year in France, acquiring proficiency in French before commencing their chosen degree programs.
The Classes Internationales program aims to broaden access to France’s renowned education for high-achieving Indian students. It invites students, regardless of their current French proficiency, to enroll in French-taught undergraduate programs across various fields in esteemed French higher education institutions.
Characterized by inclusivity, the program welcomes students with a focus on academic excellence. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of disciplines such as engineering, management, sciences, humanities, and arts. Immersed in French culture and language, students actively participate in the institutions’ student activities.
Exceptional students may qualify for scholarships offered by the Embassy of France in India to support their higher education in France. The application period extends until March 31, 2024.
During his visit, President Macron interacted with Indian students affiliated with Alliance Française de Jaipur, French departments of Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and alumni who completed their studies in France. Macron emphasized France’s commitment to creating more opportunities for Indian students, outlining initiatives like Classes Internationales, a 5-year short-stay Schengen visa for alumni, and India’s status as the largest beneficiary of French academic scholarships. He reiterated the ambitious goal of welcoming 30,000 Indian students to France by 2030.
