Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the nationwide “Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan” on August 2, a major initiative aimed at encouraging young Indians to actively participate in creating a drug-free nation. The 100-week campaign will begin as a people-driven movement focused on spreading awareness about substance abuse and motivating youth to contribute toward the vision of a developed India.
Led by MY Bharat youth volunteers, the initiative will involve simultaneous participation across nearly 10,000 locations throughout the country following the Prime Minister’s launch. Organizers expect more than 10 million young people to participate by taking the Nasha Mukti Pledge and committing themselves to becoming volunteers dedicated to the cause.
The campaign has been designed to support the broader goal of building a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” while aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. It aims to bring together young citizens, educational institutions, community groups, and organizations to create a nationwide movement against drug abuse.
A wide range of organizations will participate in the campaign, including MY Bharat volunteers, the National Service Scheme (NSS), youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organizations, industry groups, and more than 125 spiritual organizations. The initiative focuses on collective responsibility and encourages communities to work together to prevent substance abuse among young people.
As part of the campaign, participants will take the Nasha Mukti Pledge and dedicate themselves to promoting awareness and supporting efforts to create healthier communities. Volunteers and organizations making significant contributions will be recognized at key milestones during the campaign’s 50th, 75th, and 100th weeks.
The initiative will include regular activities every Sunday throughout its 100-week duration. These programs will feature sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural activities, art competitions, street plays, and other community engagement programs designed to connect with young people at the grassroots level.
Through these activities, the government aims to encourage positive lifestyle choices, strengthen youth participation, and create greater awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The campaign highlights the role of young citizens as important partners in shaping a healthier and more empowered society.
The “Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan” represents a large-scale effort to combine awareness, community participation, and youth leadership in addressing substance abuse challenges while supporting India’s long-term development goals.
