PM Modi celebrates 9 years of Digital India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the transformative impact of Digital India on Monday, praising the initiative as it marked nine years since its inception. He emphasized that Digital India symbolizes an empowered India, enhancing Ease of Living and transparency. PM Modi also showcased the significant progress achieved over the past decade.

The original MyGovIndia post celebrated the nine-year anniversary of the Digital India campaign launched by the Modi government on 1 July 2015. It highlighted the initiative’s profound impact on transforming lives across the nation, leveraging technology to bridge the digital divide and make government services more accessible electronically.

Digital India aims to create a more inclusive and efficient society by expanding internet connectivity and enhancing online infrastructure, especially in rural areas. The initiative focuses on three core components: developing secure digital infrastructure, delivering government services digitally, and promoting universal digital literacy.

Since its inception, Digital India has significantly strengthened the country’s digital infrastructure. It has facilitated projects like BharatNet, aimed at providing high-speed internet to rural India, thereby enabling millions to access online services and information.

A standout achievement of Digital India is the widespread adoption of the Aadhaar system, providing 1.3 billion Indians with a digital biometric identity. This has streamlined government services and welfare programs, ensuring efficient delivery without bureaucratic delays.
