Stener further demonstrated her endorsement by sharing videos and images of herself practicing Yoga.
PM Modi emphasized the universal appeal of Yoga, transcending cultural and geographical boundaries, in his X post commemorating the upcoming International Day of Yoga. He urged people to embrace Yoga as a practice promoting holistic well-being and unity among individuals worldwide.
Responding to PM Modi’s post, May-Elin Stener affirmed his perspective, underscoring Yoga’s importance as a global phenomenon. She encouraged participation in Yoga challenges, citing her personal journey with Yoga, which began during her tenure at @NorwayUN and continues to evolve.
Ahead of the International Day of Yoga, PM Modi reiterated the significance of integrating Yoga into daily life, advocating its calming effects and resilience-building qualities. Since its inception in 2015, the International Day of Yoga has been observed annually on June 21, following PM Modi’s proposal, which was endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. PM Modi’s suggestion to select June 21 stemmed from its status as the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere, symbolizing vitality and significance in various cultures worldwide.
PM Modi’s leadership in promoting Yoga on the global stage was highlighted in 2023 when he led a monumental Yoga session at the UN headquarters in New York to commemorate the 9th International Day of Yoga. This event, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, showcased participation from individuals representing the most nationalities practicing Yoga together, emphasizing the practice’s universal appeal and impact.
