Penn State’s Board of Trustees recently announced the re-election of Naren K. Gursahaney as a representative from the business and industry sector. Gursahaney, who previously served in this distinguished role, was chosen once again by the board for his continued contributions and leadership.
The Board of Trustees at Penn State consists of 38 members and includes a variety of representatives, among them six who are specifically elected to advocate for business and industry interests. These roles are staggered so that two members rotate off the board every year. In 2025, Gursahaney was reappointed for another term in recognition of his enduring service and professional excellence.
With an impressive corporate background, Gursahaney formerly held top leadership positions, including president, CEO, and director of ADT Corporation. Beyond his past executive role, he continues to lend his expertise to other major companies as a board member for both NextEra Energy and Berwind Corp.
A proud Penn State graduate from the Class of 1983, Gursahaney has remained deeply connected to his alma mater. He has generously funded scholarships and academic initiatives within both the College of Engineering and the College of Information Sciences and Technology. His contributions also extend to student support services, including financial backing for the Student Veteran Center.
Gursahaney actively participates in the university’s advisory boards, particularly within the College of Engineering, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth. His long standing dedication has earned him multiple prestigious honors from Penn State, including the Alumni Fellow Award, Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award.
The Board of Trustees comprises members from diverse sectors: six appointed by the governor, nine elected by alumni, six from agricultural societies, six selected by the board for business and industry expertise, one student, one academic representative, three at-large members, and the immediate past president of the Penn State Alumni Association.
With Gursahaney’s re-election, Penn State continues to benefit from his leadership, experience, and unwavering support for its mission and student body.
