Nikesh Arora and Yamini Rangan are leading the ranks as the top-earning Indian-origin tech CEOs in their respective fields. Recent data on CEO compensation highlights these two executives: Nikesh Arora of Palo Alto Networks and Yamini Rangan of HubSpot, both of whom have been recognized as among the highest-paid CEOs with Indian roots.
Nikesh Arora, who is ranked 10th on the list of the highest-paid CEOs based on Compensation Actually Paid (CAP), had a reported total compensation exceeding $266.4 million in 2023. His impressive earnings reflect his significant role as the CEO of Palo Alto Networks, a prominent cybersecurity firm. Arora, who began his career in Delhi’s Air Force Public School, previously served as Google’s chief business officer before leading SoftBank in Japan and taking the helm at Palo Alto Networks in 2018. Notably, he also secured the second position on The Wall Street Journal’s 2023 list of top-paid CEOs in the US, with a total compensation of $151.43 million.
On the other hand, Yamini Rangan, CEO of HubSpot, has made remarkable strides, securing the eighth spot among the highest-paid female CEOs in the US. Her compensation more than doubled in 2023, reaching $25.88 million. With over 24 years in the tech industry, Rangan’s career began with a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Bharathiar University, followed by a Master’s in Computer Engineering and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
