Meanwhile, the Indian diaspora in Mauritius showcased their admiration for PM Modi. Enthusiastic supporters gathered outside his hotel to greet him. One artist among them shared that he spent four hours creating a sketch of PM Modi, hoping for a chance to get it autographed. Young members of the community, including Sangvi and Anya, expressed their excitement about meeting the Indian leader for the first time, emphasizing their pride in their Indian heritage.
In preparation for the occasion, local dancers rehearsed diligently for nearly ten days to deliver a captivating performance blending classical Indian dance forms like Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Kuchipudi. Swayamprabha, one of the performers, mentioned that these dance styles are an integral part of Mauritian schools, symbolizing the deep cultural connection between India and Mauritius.
The official reception took place at 6 a.m. local time, where PM Modi was greeted by a distinguished gathering of 200 individuals, including parliamentarians, diplomatic officials, and religious leaders. The visit marks another step in strengthening India-Mauritius relations, with community engagement and cultural celebrations playing a key role in the warm reception.
