External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has joined the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign ahead of India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. Jaishankar shared a photograph on social media showing the national flag displayed at his residence, encouraging citizens to embrace the campaign and celebrate the significance of the Indian Tricolor.
The minister posted the image on X with a simple message supporting the initiative. The Ministry of External Affairs subsequently reshared the post with the message, “Tiranga in every heart, every home,” reinforcing the campaign’s focus on making the national flag a visible part of Independence Day celebrations across the country.
Launched as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, Har Ghar Tiranga was designed to encourage citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and display it during Independence Day celebrations. The campaign seeks to deepen the emotional connection between citizens and the Tiranga, moving beyond its traditional association with official institutions and ceremonies.
The initiative also aims to promote a broader sense of national unity and shared responsibility. By encouraging people to display the flag at home, the campaign presents the Tiranga as a symbol of personal pride as well as a collective commitment to the country’s progress and development.
This year’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign carries an additional cultural significance, as it is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. The national song has long represented patriotism and devotion to the motherland, making it a central theme of this year’s Independence Day activities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also urged citizens to participate actively in the campaign as India prepares to mark Independence Day on August 15. In a recent social media message, he encouraged people to honor the freedom fighters who contributed to India’s independence and renew their commitment to building a developed nation.
Modi has repeatedly described the Tricolor as a symbol of national pride and inspiration. He has called on citizens to display the flag enthusiastically and participate in Har Ghar Tiranga as part of the broader vision of building a Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister also welcomed the decision to dedicate this year’s campaign to Vande Mataram, particularly as the country commemorates 150 years of the iconic national song.
With political leaders, government institutions, and citizens participating, the 2026 campaign is expected to bring the Tricolor into homes and communities across India, combining patriotic celebrations with a renewed focus on national unity and collective responsibility.
