US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor marked 100 days in office by emphasizing the growing strength and momentum in India-US relations, describing the partnership as being on a highly positive trajectory. In a post shared on X, he highlighted several key developments achieved during his initial months in India, including progress on a major trade agreement, expanded defence cooperation, and India’s participation in the Pax Silica initiative.
Gor noted that the early phase of his tenure has been marked by active engagement across government and industry, both in India and the United States. He also shared that he recently traveled to Washington, where he met senior US leadership, including President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. These meetings, he said, reinforced the shared commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
The ambassador described the current state of India-US relations as being on an “incredible footing,” stressing that both countries are actively moving from dialogue to implementation. He emphasized that the partnership is not limited to discussions but is increasingly focused on delivering concrete outcomes across strategic sectors.
In earlier remarks during an interview with DD News, Gor referred to India as a “vitally important partner,” highlighting the significance of the relationship in US foreign policy priorities. He also indicated that several major announcements related to bilateral cooperation are expected in the near future, reflecting continued expansion of ties.
Gor confirmed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit India next month, marking his first official trip to the country. The visit is expected to include participation in a ministerial-level Quad meeting, which will bring together key partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Preparations are also underway for broader diplomatic engagement during the trip, with discussions likely to extend beyond New Delhi to other locations.
He further noted that leadership-level rapport between the two countries remains strong, referencing positive interactions between President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Gor, this personal and strategic alignment has contributed to accelerating cooperation across sectors such as defence, trade, and technology.
Overall, the ambassador’s remarks underscored a period of active diplomatic engagement and expanding strategic collaboration, with both countries working toward strengthening economic ties, enhancing security cooperation, and advancing shared interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
