India’s Chief of Defence Staff, Anil Chauhan, held key discussions with his UK counterpart, Richard Knighton, during his official visit to the United Kingdom, reinforcing stronger defence and strategic ties between the two nations. Both sides highlighted their shared determination to tackle modern global challenges, including trade disruptions, rising cyber threats, and the need to ensure stability across the Indo-Pacific region.
The dialogue also reflected the growing importance of technology in defence planning. Both countries acknowledged that rapid advancements are reshaping military capabilities and global security frameworks. During the visit, General Chauhan engaged with senior faculty and experts at the Royal College of Defence Studies, where he discussed the changing nature of global security. He addressed senior participants on how recent conflicts are influencing military strategies worldwide, while also outlining India’s approach to handling emerging strategic challenges and its role in promoting global stability.
He also interacted with leaders from the UK’s defence industry, emphasizing the importance of stronger economic integration. According to him, closer collaboration could enable smoother defence manufacturing, improved technology transfer, and more resilient supply chains. He further pointed out that joint efforts in designing, developing, and producing critical defence technologies could bring long-term benefits to both countries.
General Chauhan held meetings with key UK officials, including Defence Minister Luke Pollard and Indo-Pacific Minister Seema Malhotra. These discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas such as cyber security, intelligence sharing, and space capabilities. Both nations agreed on the need to build future-ready forces capable of responding effectively to emerging global challenges.
In addition, he led a roundtable discussion with experts, policymakers, and think tanks on India’s military transformation. As part of his visit, General Chauhan paid tribute to fallen soldiers at Memorial Gates in London, honoring their bravery and sacrifice. The visit concluded with ceremonial engagements, symbolizing the strengthening partnership between India and the United Kingdom and their shared vision for global peace, resilience, and security.
