The Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) has congratulated several of its longtime patrons, collaborators, and supporters who were recognized in the second edition of We The People – 250 Voices, a commemorative publication by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). The publication honors 250 individuals whose contributions have played a significant role in strengthening the relationship between the United States and India.
Released during the ninth USISPF Leadership Summit on June 29, the publication commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States by recognizing influential figures from diverse fields, including diplomacy, business, education, arts, and public service. The honored individuals have helped foster stronger bilateral ties through leadership, innovation, and cultural engagement.
Among those recognized is Ambassador Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York. IAAC praised his efforts to deepen people-to-people connections through cultural initiatives, educational collaborations, and community engagement. His continued support for IAAC’s programs has strengthened the role of the arts in promoting mutual understanding and enhancing public diplomacy between the two nations.
Art historian and curator John Guy also received recognition for his extensive contributions to the appreciation of India’s artistic heritage. Through years of research and internationally acclaimed exhibitions, he has introduced global audiences to India’s classical and historical art traditions. IAAC acknowledged his longstanding association with the organization and his support for its visual arts initiatives.
Another honoree, Hugo Weihe, was recognized for his work in promoting Indian and Himalayan art worldwide. His scholarship and leadership in the international art community have helped showcase India’s cultural legacy to broader audiences while supporting the preservation and appreciation of its artistic traditions.
The publication also honored Purna R. Saggurti, Vice Chairman and Chairman of Global Corporate and Investment Banking at Bank of America, for his contributions to strengthening financial and investment ties between India and the United States. IAAC noted that his support has reinforced the belief that cultural exchange and economic cooperation complement one another in building stronger international relationships.
IAAC leaders said the recognition reflects the remarkable achievements of individuals who have advanced US-India relations through business, diplomacy, philanthropy, and the arts. They emphasized that the honorees represent the diversity and strength of the Indian American community while highlighting the lasting role of cultural collaboration in deepening one of the world’s most significant bilateral partnerships.
