Boeing has announced the promotion of Uma Amuluru, an Indian American, as its chief human resources officer and executive vice president for human resources, effective April 1. She will succeed Michael D’Ambrose and report directly to the company’s president and CEO David Calhoun.
In her new role, Amuluru will oversee Boeing’s strategic human resources functions, including talent planning, global talent acquisition, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Calhoun praised Amuluru’s leadership skills and highlighted her proven track record in team building and organizational strengthening, emphasizing the significance of Boeing’s vast global workforce of 170,000 employees in maintaining quality standards and fostering stakeholder trust.
Highlighting Amuluru’s familiarity with Boeing’s internal dynamics from her previous role as the company’s inaugural chief compliance officer, Calhoun emphasized her role as a valuable asset in driving Boeing towards its future objectives. Amuluru brings extensive experience to her new position, having served as vice president and general counsel for Boeing defense, space, and security since early 2023. She played a key role in establishing Boeing’s global compliance organization and has held senior positions in the US government, including counselor to the US attorney general and associate White House counsel during the Obama administration.
Boeing affirmed that Amuluru’s diverse background, spanning corporate and governmental spheres, strategically positions her to lead the company’s human resources efforts in an ever-evolving global landscape. Her appointment reflects Boeing’s commitment to supporting and empowering its workforce as it continues its trajectory of growth and innovation.
