Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has begun his official visit to the United States, scheduled from November 12 to 17, to bolster strategic maritime cooperation between the two nations. During his visit, he will engage in high-level discussions with senior officials from the US Department of War and hold meetings with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), and Admiral Stephen T. Koehler, Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (USPACFLT).
The Indian Navy announced that these meetings will provide an important platform to assess ongoing naval cooperation, strengthen information-sharing systems, and deepen operational-level linkages between the two countries. Admiral Tripathi will also visit key US naval institutions and operational commands, reflecting India’s commitment to expanding its global maritime engagement.
Discussions will center on shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific region and collaboration through multilateral frameworks such as MILAN and the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) initiatives. Both sides are expected to deliberate on joint exercises, maritime domain awareness, and coordination mechanisms that contribute to a stable, free, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
The Indian Navy emphasized that this visit is part of a broader effort to fortify the enduring maritime partnership between India and the United States—a relationship built on trust, shared democratic values, and mutual strategic interests. The growing cooperation between the two navies continues to be a cornerstone of the India–US Defence Partnership, enabling both nations to respond effectively to evolving security challenges in the region.
This visit follows the successful conclusion of the 22nd India–US Military Cooperation Group (MCG) meeting, held in Hawaii on November 4–5. The meeting was co-chaired by Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC), and Lt. General Joshua M. Rudd, Deputy Commander of USINDOPACOM.
According to the Integrated Defence Staff Headquarters, the discussions advanced collaboration under the Framework for India–US Major Defence Partnership, expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, combat medicine, operational logistics, and joint training. Both nations reaffirmed their shared commitment to interoperability and collective security.
The MCG remains a key platform facilitating strategic and operational-level dialogue between the armed forces of India and the US. Admiral Tripathi’s visit further underscores the Indian Navy’s dedication to strengthening this alliance and advancing a cooperative, secure, and open Indo-Pacific maritime domain.
