Aditi Rai, a senior at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), has been named the 2025 recipient of the Marian Ivers Community Service Leadership Award, celebrating her empathy-driven leadership and tireless efforts to uplift others.
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Chemistry, Rai exemplifies balance and purpose — managing a rigorous academic journey while dedicating countless hours to community service. Her volunteering journey bridges continents and causes, rooted in her belief that lasting change can arise from both grand initiatives and heartfelt, everyday gestures.
Rai’s commitment to service began when she volunteered as an English-speaking buddy for Ukrainian students, offering friendship and support during challenging times. Her passion soon extended to leadership roles with global nonprofits such as Aid2Day and Interns4Good, where she played a pivotal role in raising thousands of dollars for children battling cancer and linking high school students worldwide with meaningful community projects.
Closer to home, she has volunteered with CHI Health and Nebraska Medicine, comforting patients and assisting families. As University and Teen Volunteer Coordinator at CHI Bergan Mercy, she helped guide young volunteers exploring careers in healthcare, nurturing the next generation of compassionate professionals.
At UNO, Rai’s influence extends across campus. As Chair of the College of Information Science & Technology Student Advisory Board and now Student Body Vice President, she has worked tirelessly to promote collaboration, representation, and advocacy for her peers.
“Making a difference doesn’t always mean big projects with large funding—it’s about showing up, creating space, and empowering everyone,” Rai shared, reflecting her inclusive philosophy of leadership.
Looking ahead, Rai aspires to merge her passions for technology and medicine to design innovative solutions that enhance patient care experiences. Her unwavering dedication to service and inclusive leadership embodies the true spirit of the Marian Ivers Community Service Leadership Award, inspiring others to lead with empathy and purpose.
