Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh on October 16 to dedicate, inaugurate, and lay the foundation for multiple development initiatives valued at approximately $1.6 billion. His itinerary begins with a spiritual visit to Srisailam, followed by a large public event in Kurnool.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive in Srisailam around 11:15 AM to perform Pooja and Darshan at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Nandyal district. This revered temple, one of India’s 12 Jyotirlingas and 52 Shakti Peethas, uniquely houses both deities in a single complex. At 12:15 PM, he will visit the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra, a memorial commemorating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 1677 visit, which features models of his four iconic forts—Pratapgad, Rajgad, Raigad, and Shivneri—alongside a central meditation statue.
Later, at around 2:30 PM, PM Modi will proceed to Kurnool to unveil projects spanning industry, power, infrastructure, defence, petroleum, and natural gas. Key initiatives include the Transmission System Strengthening at Kurnool-III Pooling Station, a $345 million project designed to enhance renewable energy transmission through a 765 KV double-circuit line with 6,000 MVA capacity.
He will also launch the Orvakal and Kopparthy Industrial Areas, jointly developed with the National Industrial Corridor Trust and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, representing $590 million in investment. These hubs are projected to attract $2.5 billion in additional investments and generate approximately 100,000 jobs in Rayalaseema.
Infrastructure upgrades include a six-lane Greenfield Highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar costing $115 million, along with six major road projects worth $137 million to reduce congestion and enhance safety.
Railway initiatives, totaling over $145 million, include the Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line and the Pendurti–Simhachalam North Rail Flyover, as well as the doubling of Kottavalasa–Boddavara and Shimiliguda–Gorapur sections, aimed at improving freight and passenger movement.
In energy, the GAIL Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline, spanning 422 km across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, was dedicated at a cost of $208 million. PM Modi also inaugurated a $24 million LPG bottling plant in Chittoor to serve more than 720,000 customers across three states.
To bolster defence manufacturing, the Prime Minister dedicated Bharat Electronics Limited’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory in Krishna district, a $43 million facility that will produce electro-optical systems for India’s armed forces and create skilled employment opportunities.
