Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on a major milestone on Tuesday — completing 25 years of public service since first taking oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001. Sharing his thoughts on X, the Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude to the people of India for their unwavering support and trust throughout his political journey.
Modi recalled that two and a half decades ago, his leadership journey began when he took over Gujarat’s top administrative role, a period that laid the foundation for his future leadership at the national level. “On this day in 2001, I took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. With the blessings of my fellow citizens, I now enter my 25th year of serving in public office,” he wrote.
He went on to express appreciation for the people’s faith and affection, stating that his lifelong goal has been to uplift the lives of citizens and contribute meaningfully to India’s growth story. “It has been my constant effort to improve the quality of life for our people and to advance our great nation that has given me so much,” he said.
Reflecting on a personal moment, Modi shared his mother’s advice on the day of his first oath. “My mother told me she didn’t understand my work, but she had two wishes — to always work for the poor and to never take a bribe,” he recounted. He emphasized that these values have continued to shape his governance philosophy, ensuring integrity and empathy remain at the heart of his service.
Looking to the future, PM Modi reaffirmed his vision for a “Viksit Bharat” — a developed and self-reliant India. He reiterated his pledge to uphold the values of the Constitution and work tirelessly for inclusive progress. “Serving our nation is the greatest honor. Guided by our Constitution and inspired by our people’s trust, I will continue to strive for a stronger, united, and prosperous India,” he stated.
