Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new initiative under President-elect Donald Trump’s “Save America” campaign. The department’s goal is to streamline government functions by cutting unnecessary regulations, reducing wasteful spending, and reorganizing federal agencies.
Responding to criticism from US Senator Elizabeth Warren, who mocked the two-person team as “inefficient,” Musk highlighted the contrary, stating, “Unlike you, neither of us are being paid, so it is very efficient indeed.” He also expressed confidence in the mission, saying, “DOGE will do great things for the American people. Let history be the judge.”
President Trump emphasized the importance of the initiative, describing it as a step toward making the government accountable to the people. “A smaller government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence,” he said, setting July 4, 2026, as the deadline for the department’s work.
Musk and Ramaswamy’s leadership in DOGE reflects a bold vision for a leaner and more efficient government that aligns with Trump’s economic reform goals.
