During the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) hosted the CII-Deloitte Breakfast Session on “Digital Public Infrastructure and India’s Impact on Global Technology Value Chains.” This session showcased India’s capabilities as a vibrant democracy proficient in delivering digital solutions. Union Minister Smriti Irani emphasized India’s success in providing technology-driven solutions to its massive population, exceeding a billion. She highlighted the country’s digital capabilities and the substantial demand for data science professionals.
Irani stated, “India is a vibrant democracy that can deliver digitally. It has delivered through technology to a billion+ population.” Despite pandemic challenges, India carried out substantial policy reform and performed digitally to protect its populace. The country remained open for business globally, even during the pandemic. CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee emphasized that digital infrastructure in India is fostering innovation and is offered globally for free.
Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM, noted that India’s digital public infrastructure significantly contributed to productivity during the pandemic, enabling remote work and supporting e-commerce. R Dinesh, President of CII & Chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, highlighted that India is on an exciting journey with infrastructure investments, providing visibility and boosting ease of doing business for investors. The recognition of India’s digital capabilities underscores its commitment to leveraging technology for socio-economic development and attracting digital investments.
