Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, Congressmen Ami Bera and Ro Khanna, and Congressman Ami Bera are three of the 50 important political officials who have been chosen to the Biden Harris campaign’s national advisory council.
Khanna serves as co-chair of the Congressional India Caucus, and Bera is the Indian-American in the US Congress with the longest tenure. The first Indian- and Tibetan-American to be elected mayor of an Ohio city is Pureval.
Nancy Pelosi, a former House speaker, will preside over the advisory board. According to a formal statement, the whole board will support the campaign’s initiatives to strengthen and broaden the winning coalition that propelled Vice President Biden to the White House in 2020.
“The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher,” Biden said. “Our freedom and democracy are on the line. I’m grateful to this group of diverse and dynamic leaders who will help us win the battle for the soul of America and finish the job for the American people”, he added.
The campaign claims that board members will engage directly with voters through grassroots efforts and events in crucial battleground states, take part in routine media appearances, help with fundraising initiatives and events, and use their platforms and networks to amplify the message of the campaign to voters.
It was said that more members are expected to join as the campaign develops and evolves. This first group comprises a cross-section of party leaders who reflect the variety of the Biden coalition in several areas.
