The makers of Puri Jagannadh’s Slumdog 33 Temple Road have unveiled a new character glimpse introducing veteran actress Zarina Wahab as Zubeida, the mother of Vijay Sethupathi’s character. The glimpse adds an emotional layer to the action-driven film and highlights the hardships faced by people living on the margins of society.
The video presents Zubeida recalling a difficult period in her life when she considered ending her life at a railway station. Hunger eventually forced her to seek help by begging, with the sequence focusing on survival, dignity and motherhood. Her character appears to have an important emotional connection to the film’s central narrative.
The filmmakers had earlier introduced Tabu’s character, Gauri Hegde, a Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax. Her glimpse presented her as a strong and authoritative officer who confronts Vijay Sethupathi’s character.
Samyuktha plays the female lead, while Kannada actor Duniya Vijay, Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh are also part of the supporting cast. The film’s music is composed by National Award-winning composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar.
Puri Jagannadh is producing the project under the Puri Connects banner, with Charmi Kaur presenting it in association with JB Motion Pictures and JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla. The production has completed filming and is currently progressing through post-production.
Slumdog 33 Temple Road is planned as a pan-India release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi, giving the action drama a broad release across multiple Indian film markets.
