India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, visited Georgia to reinforce growing cooperation between India and the southeastern US state, highlighting the expanding scope of the India-US strategic partnership. His visit included meetings with government officials, business executives, and university leaders, with discussions centered on strengthening collaboration across trade, investment, logistics, innovation, and higher education.
One of the key engagements during the visit was a meeting with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. The two leaders reviewed the steady growth of commercial and investment ties between India and Georgia while exploring new opportunities to enhance cooperation. They also discussed ways to improve connectivity and encourage greater collaboration in business, technology, and education. Kwatra congratulated Governor Kemp on his leadership and expressed optimism about Georgia’s continued role in advancing stronger economic and strategic relations between India and the United States.
The ambassador also met with Carol Tome, Chief Executive Officer of UPS, where discussions focused on the growing economic partnership between the two nations. Topics included the importance of resilient supply chains, stronger logistics networks, and expanding commercial engagement. Kwatra highlighted India’s rapidly evolving economy, emphasizing its growing appeal as a destination for innovation, advanced manufacturing, and international business partnerships. Education also featured prominently during the visit. Kwatra participated in the India-US Education Roundtable organized by the Consulate General of India in Atlanta, bringing together representatives from 20 universities across the southeastern United States. The discussions explored ways to deepen research partnerships, expand academic exchange programs, and strengthen cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
Participants also examined the potential for establishing satellite campuses in India, reflecting the increasing educational collaboration between the two countries.
