A major development in the artificial intelligence sector has elevated Indian-origin entrepreneur Aman Sanger into the ranks of the world’s youngest billionaires. SpaceX has entered into an agreement valued at $60 billion to acquire Anysphere Inc., the company responsible for creating Cursor, one of the fastest-growing AI-powered coding platforms. Following the announcement, Sanger’s estimated personal wealth climbed to approximately $5.5 billion.
At just 25 years old, Sanger serves as Chief Operating Officer of Anysphere. Born in New York, he discovered his passion for programming during his early teenage years and began writing code at the age of 14. He later pursued computer science studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before leaving the university in 2022 to launch Anysphere alongside fellow students Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, and Arvid Lunnemark.
The startup initially focused on developing artificial intelligence tools for the mechanical engineering industry. However, the team later shifted its attention toward software development, creating AI systems capable of understanding extensive codebases and assisting developers in producing sophisticated software solutions more efficiently.
That strategic transition proved highly successful. Cursor experienced explosive growth, surpassing $1 billion in annualized revenue in late 2025. By early June 2026, the platform’s revenue had expanded to nearly $4 billion, establishing it as one of the fastest-growing AI companies in the industry.
Today, the coding assistant is used by developers across approximately 50,000 organizations worldwide. Its customer base includes prominent technology companies such as Nvidia, Adobe, Uber, Shopify, and PayPal, highlighting its growing influence within the software ecosystem.
Responding to the acquisition announcement on X, Sanger expressed excitement about the future and hinted at developing increasingly powerful AI models. SpaceX expects the transaction to be finalized during the third quarter of 2026.
The acquisition comes shortly after SpaceX’s successful Nasdaq debut, which pushed the aerospace and technology giant’s valuation to nearly $2.2 trillion, further strengthening its position as one of the world’s most valuable companies.
