Jayshree Ullal, the Chief Executive Officer of Arista Networks, has secured the seventh position on Forbes’ 2026 ranking of America’s Richest Self-Made Women, becoming the highest-ranked woman of Indian origin featured on the prestigious list. With an estimated net worth of $6.8 billion, Ullal’s financial success reflects decades of leadership in the technology industry and her substantial ownership stake in the company she helped transform into a global networking powerhouse.
A major portion of Ullal’s wealth stems from her approximately 3% ownership in Arista Networks. Reports indicate that she has also allocated part of her holdings for the benefit of her two children, as well as her niece and nephew, highlighting her long-term approach to both wealth management and family planning.
Ullal’s path to becoming one of the most influential figures in technology began with a strong academic background in engineering. After moving to the United States, she earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from San Francisco State University, followed by a master’s degree in engineering management from Santa Clara University. Born in London and raised in New Delhi, she developed a passion for technology early in life.
Her professional journey started at semiconductor companies Fairchild Semiconductor and Advanced Micro Devices. She later spent 15 years at Cisco Systems, where she held senior leadership positions and worked closely with then-Chief Executive Officer John Chambers. During this period, Cisco played a vital role in supporting the rapid expansion of internet infrastructure around the world.
A defining moment in Ullal’s career came in 2008 when she took over as President and Chief Executive Officer of Arista Networks. At the time, the company was still in its infancy, generating no revenue and employing fewer than 50 people. Despite fierce competition from established industry giants, Ullal recognized the growing importance of cloud computing and repositioned the business to specialize in high-performance networking solutions designed for this emerging market.
Her strategic direction proved highly successful, leading Arista Networks to a public listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014. In recent years, the company’s technology has become increasingly important as organizations expand investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Arista’s networking products now support the demanding requirements of AI-driven data centers, helping propel the company to approximately $9 billion in revenue during 2024.
In addition to leading Arista, Ullal serves on the board of cloud computing company Snowflake. Her career continues to be recognized as an example of how technical expertise, innovation, and decisive leadership can shape the future of the global technology industry.
