Indian national badminton player and coach Veda Vyas Sai Anumula is steadily becoming a significant influence in the expanding United States badminton ecosystem. With a blend of competitive experience, advanced coaching skills, and sports management knowledge, he is contributing to the development of structured training systems and emerging talent in the country.
Anumula previously reached a peak junior ranking of India No. 2 in 2015 and remained among the top 10 national players by 2017. During his playing career, he earned seven national-level medals, establishing himself as a technically strong and tactically aware athlete before shifting his focus toward coaching and sports development.
His coaching profile gained strong recognition during his tenure at the Suchitra Academy between 2020 and 2023. Working within a high-performance training environment, he served as an assistant coach and also acted as a sparring partner for Olympic medalist and world champion PV Sindhu during her preparation phases, gaining valuable experience at the elite level.
After relocating to the United States, Anumula completed a Master’s degree in sports management and joined the Triangle Badminton Club in North Carolina. There, he worked alongside Olympian Sai Praneeth B., forming a coaching setup focused on improving the performance standards of American badminton players.
Under their combined guidance, multiple young athletes began achieving success in USA Badminton-sanctioned events, including regional and open tournaments. One of his trainees, Nitesh H., also secured a junior national medal, further strengthening Anumula’s reputation as a coach capable of producing competitive-level athletes in the American circuit.
More recently, Anumula took on the role of head coach and operations manager at Vistara Sports in Texas. Athletes under his training program have collectively won more than 10 medals in official USA badminton competitions, reflecting the effectiveness of his coaching structure and development approach.
His growing influence was further recognised when he was appointed tournament director for the 2026 USA Badminton Vistara South Open Local Championships. Sports experts view his journey as a clear example of how Indian badminton expertise is increasingly contributing to the global growth of the sport and helping professionalise training systems in the United States.
