Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Netherlands for a two-day official engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and formalizing a new strategic partnership between the two countries. The visit reflects India’s ongoing efforts to expand its global diplomatic and economic cooperation, particularly with key European partners.
According to a statement issued by the Dutch government, the visit will begin with a ceremonial reception at Huis ten Bosch Palace, where King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will host the Indian Prime Minister. A formal luncheon will follow, attended by senior officials including the Dutch Foreign Minister and representatives from major industries, as well as leaders from the arts and academic sectors.
Later, Prime Minister Modi will meet Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten at the Catshuis, the official residence of the Dutch leader. The two heads of government are expected to participate in high-level discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and enhancing economic and technological ties.
A key highlight of the visit will be a roundtable discussion involving top executives from Dutch companies. The session, hosted by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, will focus on expanding economic collaboration and exploring new investment opportunities between the two nations. Both prime ministers are expected to address participants at the conclusion of the meeting.
During the visit, India and the Netherlands are also expected to sign a cooperation agreement that will formalize aspects of their evolving strategic partnership. The agreement will strengthen collaboration in several important sectors, including security, innovation, water management, clean energy such as green hydrogen, and semiconductor technology.
The leaders are also scheduled to hold a delegation-level meeting and an informal dinner where they will discuss broader global challenges. These include geopolitical issues such as developments in the Middle East and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, along with shared interests in economic stability and technological advancement.
Officials noted that the visit will build on the growing momentum in India-Netherlands relations, which have expanded significantly in recent years across trade, defense, and innovation sectors. The Netherlands is currently one of India’s major trade partners in Europe, with bilateral trade valued at tens of billions of dollars annually, along with substantial foreign direct investment flows.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit will further deepen cooperation between the two nations and reinforce their long-standing partnership. It also highlighted that this is Prime Minister Modi’s second official visit to the Netherlands, following his earlier trip in 2017, marking continued high-level engagement between the two countries.
