Golfers of Indian origin delivered an impressive performance at the prestigious US$ 20 million Cadillac Championship in Miami, with Akshay Bhatia, Sahith Theegala, and Sudarshan Yellamaraju all securing top-30 finishes in one of the PGA Tour’s elite Signature events of the season.
Akshay Bhatia produced a steady four-round display to finish tied for 23rd place at 6-under par with a total score of 282. The 24-year-old carded rounds of 70, 72, 67, and 73, continuing his consistent form on the PGA Tour. The result helped Bhatia maintain seventh position in the FedExCup standings, strengthening his status as one of the tour’s emerging stars. The three-time PGA Tour winner also earned prize money of US$ 167,142 following another solid outing in his tenth event of the season.
Sahith Theegala staged a strong comeback during the final round, firing an excellent 64 to finish the tournament at 5-under par overall. After facing difficulties during the middle rounds, Theegala’s impressive closing performance lifted him into a share of 30th place. His final-round score was the lowest among the three players and highlighted his ability to recover under pressure against one of the strongest fields in professional golf.
Joining Theegala in tied 30th position was Indian-Canadian golfer Sudarshan Yellamaraju, who once again displayed composure and consistency throughout the tournament. Yellamaraju posted rounds of 74, 66, 75, and 68, continuing to build his reputation while competing alongside some of the world’s leading golfers. His performance further reinforced his growing confidence and ability to compete at the highest level of the sport.
The achievement of having three golfers of Indian origin finish inside the top 30 at a Signature event reflects the increasing influence and success of Indian talent in global men’s golf. Their performances also demonstrate the depth of skill emerging from players with Indian roots on the international stage.
Signature events on the PGA Tour are among the season’s most prestigious tournaments, featuring limited fields made up of top-ranked players. Each tournament offers a purse of US$ 20 million along with 700 FedExCup points awarded to the winner, making strong finishes especially valuable in the race for season standings.
