India and Armenia have taken further steps to enhance their defence partnership through a series of high-level meetings held in New Delhi. Lieutenant General Edvard Asryan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, met senior Indian defence officials during his official visit, with discussions centered on expanding cooperation in military and strategic sectors.
On Wednesday, Lt Gen Asryan held detailed talks with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, where both sides reviewed ongoing defence collaboration and explored new areas for engagement. According to official communication from Armenia’s Ministry of Defence, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the defence sector and building on existing frameworks of engagement between the two nations.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Armenian military chief met Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh. The meeting emphasized improving operational coordination, enhancing interoperability between the two air forces, and reinforcing bilateral air power capabilities. These discussions reflect growing interest in deeper institutional military ties between India and Armenia.
Lt Gen Asryan also met India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan. During this engagement, both sides explored opportunities for joint development projects in military hardware and discussed ways to expand defence manufacturing cooperation. The meeting also included a ceremonial Guard of Honour, underscoring the importance India places on the visiting delegation.
According to statements shared by both India’s defence establishment and Armenia’s Ministry of Defence on social media, the conversations covered the progress of ongoing defence cooperation plans and reviewed achievements under existing bilateral agreements. The two sides also agreed to further deepen collaboration in selected professional and strategic areas.
The discussions reflect a steady strengthening of India–Armenia defence relations, with both countries showing interest in expanding cooperation beyond traditional exchanges. Areas such as joint ventures, defence technology development, training, and operational coordination were highlighted as potential growth segments.
