Ranveer Singh’s action-packed film Dhurandhar (Part 1) is preparing for its theatrical release in Japan, marking another major step in the film’s global expansion. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie is set to arrive in Japanese cinemas on July 10, 2026, targeting the country’s growing audience for Indian cinema. The announcement was made by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, who shared the news on social media along with a Japanese-language promotional poster, expressing excitement about introducing the film’s high-energy narrative to Japanese viewers.
Indian cinema has steadily built a strong presence in Japan over the years, with several films gaining notable popularity. Titles such as 3 Idiots, English Vinglish, RRR, and Baahubali have previously resonated with Japanese audiences, helping establish a niche but growing market for Bollywood and Indian regional films. Established stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Rajinikanth already enjoy recognition in the country, and Dhurandhar is expected to further expand this cultural footprint.
The film’s international release is seen as an opportunity to widen its audience base and potentially increase its global earnings beyond its already impressive performance. The story follows a high-stakes spy narrative centered on an Indian operative working undercover in Pakistan, attempting to dismantle a powerful criminal and terror network rooted in Lyari. The film blends action, espionage, and drama, with Ranveer Singh playing the lead role of a RAW agent operating within Karachi’s underworld.
Dhurandhar has already delivered strong box office results globally. According to industry estimates, the film has earned approximately $156 million in worldwide gross collections, with over $120 million coming from India and nearly $36 million from overseas markets. Its domestic performance alone crossed major milestones, making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi films in recent years.
The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released on March 19, 2026, further boosted the franchise’s momentum. It reportedly opened to strong numbers in India, earning over $12 million on its first day, reflecting significant audience anticipation and franchise appeal.
The film features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and others, contributing to its large-scale cinematic appeal. With its upcoming Japan release, Dhurandhar is expected to continue its international run, potentially pushing its global total closer to $168 million, strengthening its position as a major Bollywood blockbuster with expanding global reach.
