India and Poland have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across trade, defence, counterterrorism and disaster management, setting a target to double bilateral trade by 2030. The agreements mark an effort to expand economic engagement and strengthen strategic ties between the two countries.
A key outcome of the discussions was the proposed establishment of a Defence Industry Dialogue to enhance cooperation in the defence sector. The initiative is expected to provide a platform for both countries to explore opportunities for industrial collaboration and strengthen engagement between their respective defence industries.
India and Poland also agreed to establish a dialogue on counterterrorism, creating an additional channel for cooperation on security-related issues. The move reflects the broader scope of their bilateral engagement, which extends beyond economic relations to include shared security concerns.
Disaster resilience emerged as another important area of cooperation, with Poland deciding to join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). The initiative is expected to support greater collaboration in strengthening infrastructure resilience and improving disaster preparedness and management.
The discussions also covered trade and investment, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges. These areas are expected to provide further opportunities for businesses, institutions and communities in both countries while contributing to the broader India-European Union strategic partnership.
As part of the engagement, business forums in New Delhi and Bengaluru are intended to connect business leaders and stakeholders from both countries, facilitating discussions on investment, commercial partnerships and new avenues for economic cooperation.
The visit also includes engagements in Bengaluru, where discussions with business representatives from the information technology and space sectors are expected to highlight opportunities in technology-driven industries. These sectors could offer additional avenues for collaboration as India and Poland seek to expand their economic relationship.
The trade target, defence dialogue and proposed counterterrorism engagement represent key elements of the expanded bilateral agenda. With cooperation spanning traditional industries, emerging technologies and disaster resilience, India and Poland are seeking to build a broader partnership with stronger commercial and strategic dimensions.
