Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed BJP workers across India via a video message on the party’s Foundation Day, extending greetings and reflecting on the organisation’s ideological journey rooted in sacrifice, discipline, and national service. Modi described the BJP as more than a political party, calling it a “mother” for its workers and acknowledging the emotional significance of the day for those who have dedicated themselves to public service through the organisation.
During his address, Modi paid homage to the party’s founding leaders and key ideological figures, including Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, Nanaji Deshmukh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani, and others. He highlighted that the BJP’s rise over the decades is the result of tireless efforts, perseverance, and sacrifices by workers across the nation. Modi also praised young BJP President Nitin Nabin for leading the party’s first Foundation Day celebrations under his guidance, emphasising dedication and energy in service to the nation.
Reflecting on the party’s early challenges, Modi recalled times when resources were limited and party members faced hardships, noting incidents of political violence in states like West Bengal and Kerala. He honoured those who lost their lives while working for the party and emphasised that the BJP’s achievements were grounded in adherence to principles, selfless service, and a “nation first” philosophy, contrasting it with power-centric politics.
Modi referenced the 1984 general election, when Congress dominated, but noted that public trust gradually shifted towards the BJP due to disillusionment with governance. He highlighted the party’s emphasis on policy stability, delivery, coalition politics based on national interest, women’s empowerment initiatives including the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, and landmark decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370, implementation of GST, and the One Nation, One Ration Card scheme.
Concluding his address, Modi once again extended heartfelt greetings to BJP workers and supporters, acknowledging their role in the party’s growth and reaffirming the commitment to serving the nation. “Once again, I extend my heartfelt greetings to crores of BJP workers on the party’s Foundation Day. Vande Mataram,” he said.
