India has urged its nationals living in Qatar to strictly follow the safety guidelines issued by local authorities as the security situation in the region remains tense.
The Indian Embassy in Doha issued a fresh advisory asking Indian citizens to remain cautious and stay updated with instructions issued by Qatari authorities, particularly the Ministry of Interior. The embassy also said it would continue sharing official advisories through its social media platforms to keep the Indian community informed.
Indian travellers were also advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines as Qatar’s airspace continues to face disruptions, leading to the temporary suspension of several flight operations.
Authorities in Qatar have urged residents to remain in safe locations, avoid unnecessary travel outside their homes, and stay away from windows or exposed areas as a precautionary measure amid the evolving security situation.
In a separate announcement, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior extended the validity of all entry visas that have expired or are about to expire by one month, effective from February 28. The extension may be further prolonged depending on developments in the regional situation.
For those facing urgent travel requirements, the option of exiting Qatar through the Salwa land border crossing into Saudi Arabia remains open. Indian nationals holding valid visas for the United States, the United Kingdom or Schengen countries that have been used at least once can obtain a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia. Others may apply for a Saudi visa through regular procedures.
The Indian Embassy has also created a registration facility to assist citizens who are stranded in Qatar and wish to obtain temporary transit visas through Saudi Arabia, provided they hold confirmed onward tickets from Saudi territory.
Emergency helpline numbers have been shared for Indian nationals requiring assistance or seeking clarification regarding travel arrangements.
The advisory comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia following reports of drone and missile interceptions in Qatar’s territory. Qatar’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defence forces successfully intercepted several aerial threats, including drones and ballistic missiles, without any reported casualties.
Security authorities have urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading rumours, and rely only on official information channels for updates as the situation continues to be closely monitored.
