Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he is eagerly anticipating his official visit to Israel, expressing confidence that the trip will significantly enhance bilateral cooperation. Responding to a message from Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid on X, Modi emphasized that the visit would add fresh momentum to the growing partnership between the two nations.
Lapid, in his post written in Hindi, described Modi as a trusted friend of Israel and highlighted the deep-rooted friendship that extends beyond strategic collaboration. He noted that the people of Israel were enthusiastic about welcoming the Indian leader for the two-day State Visit, underscoring the emotional and diplomatic depth of the relationship.
This marks Modi’s second visit to Israel, following his landmark trip in 2017 that expanded cooperation in defense, agriculture, and water management. That earlier engagement laid the groundwork for stronger institutional ties and opened new pathways for joint initiatives.
Calling the current trip “historic,” Modi stated that it would further energize bilateral relations. The visit has drawn significant attention in Israel, including a symbolic front-page tribute by The Jerusalem Post, which featured a prominent photograph of Modi alongside the headline welcoming him and celebrating the shared legacy of two ancient civilizations forging a new chapter.
In another gesture of goodwill, Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, was illuminated in the colors of the Indian flag ahead of Modi’s arrival. Acknowledging the tribute, the Prime Minister said he was honored and looked forward to addressing Israeli lawmakers. The address will mark a milestone, as Modi becomes the first Indian Prime Minister to speak before the Knesset, reflecting the strength of democratic and parliamentary ties between the two countries.
During the visit, Modi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog. Discussions are expected to focus on expanding collaboration across science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water solutions, defense, security, trade, and investment. Regional and global developments will also form part of the dialogue.
Modi emphasized that India and Israel share a robust and dynamic strategic partnership that has grown substantially in recent years. He expressed optimism that the visit would reinforce long-term cooperation, set new objectives, and advance a shared vision centered on resilience, innovation, and economic growth. Additionally, he plans to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Israel, acknowledging their role in strengthening people-to-people ties.
Overall, the visit signals a renewed commitment to deepening diplomatic, economic, and strategic collaboration between the two nations.
