India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, held a series of high-level engagements in Washington aimed at expanding the India-US strategic relationship. In a notable outreach effort, Kwatra welcomed a bipartisan delegation of US Senators to India House, where discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in defense, energy, trade, and shared global priorities.
The delegation included Republican Senators Lindsey Graham, Dan Sullivan, and Markwayne Mullin, along with Democratic Senators Peter Welch, Richard Blumenthal, and Sheldon Whitehouse. During the meeting, Kwatra expressed appreciation for the continued bipartisan support for deepening ties between New Delhi and Washington. Last week, Kwatra held talks with Jacob Helberg, the newly appointed US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs. The two exchanged views on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, exploring opportunities for a mutually beneficial trade agreement, strengthening the strategic trade dialogue, and enhancing collaboration in advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence. Kwatra congratulated Helberg on taking office and highlighted the potential to deepen cooperation in areas critical to both nations’ economic and strategic interests.
Kwatra also met with Representative Jay Obernolte, who chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology Research and Technology Subcommittee. Their conversation focused on broadening cooperation in science, emerging technology, innovation, and AI.
