The United States Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, emphasized the strategic partnership between the two nations, considering India a crucial player in global discussions for resolving critical issues and fostering lasting peace. Addressing a session organized by the Observer Research Foundation, Garcetti highlighted the recent India-US 2+2 Ministerial dialogue, where a significant portion of discussions centered on promoting a resilient, rules-based international order in the Indo Pacific through mechanisms like the Quad.
Garcetti pointed out that joint statements reflected the commitment of both countries to address global issues, such as the humanitarian consequences of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The ministers expressed solidarity with Israel against terrorism while also emphasizing the importance of alleviating civilian suffering and adhering to international humanitarian law.
The ambassador underscored the growing collaboration between the US and India, citing initiatives like the Roadmap for U.S.-India Industrial Cooperation, U.S.-India Defense Acceleration Ecosystem, and the U.S. India Initiative on Critical Emerging Technology (iCET). He highlighted the accelerated efforts under iCET to deepen science and technology partnerships, focusing on harnessing technology for global benefit rather than division.
Regarding US investment in India, Garcetti anticipated an influx of visitors around December and January, emphasizing major investments in Indian technology by US private companies under iCET themes. In conclusion, he characterized the US-India 2+2 as more than a typical bilateral meeting, portraying it as a collaborative effort to address global challenges and promote peace, prosperity, and environmental protection on a global scale.
