The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has unveiled its 2024 list of principal officers and board of directors, featuring three accomplished Indian-origin professionals. Dr. Mandeep Bajaj, President of Medicine and Science, is a professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he also serves as the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the department of medicine. Dr. Bajaj, recognized with the ADA’s Outstanding Physician-Clinician award, holds a medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and completed his fellowship training at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.
Dr. Rita Rastogi Kalyani, President-elect of Medicine and Science, is an associate professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She chaired the ADA’s professional practice committee and served as president of the ADA’s Maryland community leadership board. With a bachelor’s degree from Harvard, Dr. Kalyani completed her medical training at Johns Hopkins and currently serves as an associate editor for BMJ Open Diabetes Research and Care.
Madi Rajulapalli, Regional Medical Director for Medicare Case Management at CVS Health, previously held leadership roles, including Chief Medical Officer for Aetna Better Health of Louisiana. A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Quality and Utilization Review Physicians, Dr. Rajulapalli earned her MBA from Texas Woman’s University and executive education from Harvard Business School. She currently serves as the president of the ADA board for the Louisiana-Mississippi chapter and on the value-based care council—executive leadership advisory committee (EAC) for the National Association of Managed Care Physicians.
The ADA, a voluntary health organization, actively combats the diabetes epidemic and advocates for the well-being of individuals living with diabetes.
